I'm a big fan of the video game Gears of War. So just for practice I looked at already existing concept art for one of their characters to help work on my painting skills. Here are the different stages as I worked through my painting. It's still not quite finished, but I've already put in more time than I wanted to. The developer of Gears of War is Epic Games. www.epicgames.com

Speed Paintings
The Hobbit
For my Digital Painting class we had to choose a story and then do 4 illustrations from it over the course of the semester. I chose one of the greatest books of all time. J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. You can see big changes in style between these 4 paintings as I'm still learning techniques. These are some of my favorite parts of the story.

While hiking through the uncharted regions of the Northeast I came across this small fellow. He was systematically shuffling around on the ends of his legs, allowing himself to relocate from overcrowded areas but still kept himself high above the reach of small predators like crabs. I stopped to let him pass by as I could see his intense determination despite his surprisingly slow pace.

So it's been exactly 2 years since my last post . . . that's pretty bad. I'm going to try and post stuff more often. I think I haven't been posting because I've been wanting to wait until I was better but Will Terry was saying there's no reason to not start now. Makes sense. So without further delay. . . Goldfish.
This is a quick digital painting I did for my Digital Painting class this last semester. I remember when I was growing up everyone said that goldfish only have a memory span of about 30 seconds. So these poor little guys won't be able to remember how they got up there.
