It has been way too long since my last post. For Christmas my boss got me a Surface Pro 2 (!!!!) and this is what I came up with playing around on it in photoshop. It was a lot of fun! I just need to get a mouse for it because the track pad just isn't going to do it.

Borderlands 2 concept art
These are some of the silhouettes I did for Borderlands 2 DLC concept project. The armored robot I was designing was supposed to be made up of CL4P-TPs.
So the story we came up with was that while digging in the iridium mines they came across this sphere that activated and then magnetically pulled in any surrounding CL4P-TPs and/or loose pieces of metal to form this huge destructive robot that walks around on its hands. After killing Diamond Dan and some other mini bosses your player would come across this guy while trying to escape through the tunnels.
These are some sketches I came up with for some extra monsters/creatures you could fight.
This Sand Tuber is basically an underground venus flytrap. It waits under the sand with a weapon or loot as bait for the player to come get. Then when the Tuber feels approaching footsteps it snaps shut in an explosion of sand. Its inner jaw extends up out of the sand and chews up the unsuspecting prey. The "mouth" is made up of four bone-like edges with a thin membrane between them that spray neurotoxins when it shuts. Although it is usually rare, its not impossible to escape once you've been trapped.
The B4N-D1T0 is the six armed bounty hunter robot with 6 six-shooters. His extremely agile arms slide up and down his rib rails making for a faster-than-lightning quickdraw. With one good eye and an empty chassis in place of a heart, the B4N-D1T0 always gets his target.

Borderlands 2 Concept
For our concept design class our next project we are coming up with art for Borderlands 2 make-believe downloadable content. My assignment was to come up with some kind of armored robot that can be used as a weapon that you would have to fight. We decided that it'd be cool if he was made up of tiny claptrap robots. So I tried to imagine what it would look like if they were all suddenly magnetized together to form a huge mech-like robot. I like the top left design of a robot that walks on his hands, but it would be made out of small scraps and have more guns like the 4th robot down.

Play Time
This assignment was supposed to be done in the style of a children's book. It needed to have 2 kids, animals, trees, architecture, and a mode of transportation. It's impressive how much fun kids can have with a cardboard box.

Delicious
A robot drink ad that I made for my digital painting II class. I actually had a really hard time doing this in Corel Painter but that's probably because I'm used to working things like this in Illustrator, plus I don't know my way around Painter super well yet.

Robotastic
These are some cyborg silhouettes I came up with when I was designing my Cushio character. Most of them were too much robot and not enough human so I went with something different for the final sketch. But I thought some of them would be cool enough to use in other projects.

Cushio
When he was ten, he was savaged by a forest creature they had thought extinct thousands of years before. They killed the beast and put it on display in the largest museum of their world. The boy was taken to Regeneration and they rebuilt him with machine parts and soft things that had been flesh in other bodies. He grew up half-human, and thus never understood what humans wanted.
He killed his first when he was fifteen. By his twenty-first year he ruled the continent with a. guard of mercenaries as ruthless as himself. He went into space with an armada at the age of thirty and left behind him a route of road markers that had been lives and cities and thriving markets. The route made of embers and mass graves.
They stopped him near Aldebaran and space was littered with wreckage beyond the range of even the most sensitive sensors. They took him alive, and they encased him in amber and they imbedded him in the earth of the home world, with cameras that never shut down and never let him out of their sight. And there he stayed, forever. The Regenerators of his world had done their work well. He would live forever.
The mothers of the homeworld, who desired their children to go to sleep, invoked the name of Cushio. They said, “Cushio will take you if you don’t do good.” And the children were too young to know that could never be.
