Here is a quick Thor painting I came up with for one of the Daily topics. I really like the Norse mythology and I want to spend more time learning about it. It has a lot of really cool characters and creatures.
My friend wanted me to do some artwork for him to put in some cool frames he got at the DI. He really liked the Octopus I did in a suit and he really likes bears so I did this for him. I will probably do a few more of different animals as he gets more frames. He has kind eyes, a bow tie, and seems sincerely interested in your rambly drunk stories.
I did this sketch last semester in my sketchbook for caricature assignments, but after seeing how awesome The Avengers was I think it's appropriate to post now. It would be fun to do some sketches of the other Avengers. I think the key to getting Robert Downey Jr.'s face right are those cute bottom eyelashes. . . Avengers assemble!
For practice we did some speed painting copies. I was trying out the alla prima style method where you paint directly without a sketch. It is a fun style but I definitely will have to practice with it more. Each one was about 20 to 30 minutes. Both of these were done in Photoshop.
This is my portrait assignment for Digital Painting II. I stayed pretty close to my original sketch for the most part. I painted the whole thing in black and white and then gave it a sepia look at the end.
